The Certified Product Manager (CPM) is a voluntary credential from AIPMM that shows you understand the core skills of managing a product from idea to market. You do not need it to work in Canada, but it can help you stand out.
Official website ↗The CPM is an international credential issued by AIPMM. It is open to people in Canada and around the world. It covers the full life of a product, including market research, strategy, planning, launch and ongoing management.
No law or regulator in Canada requires you to hold this credential. Employers hire product managers based on experience, skills and results. A CPM can add weight to your resume, especially if you are starting out, changing careers or moving into product work from another field such as marketing, engineering or business analysis.
The CPM exam is a written, multiple-choice test taken online. It checks your understanding of product management concepts and practices. Review the topic areas well before test day, and take any practice questions that are offered.
The CPM is not a lifetime credential. AIPMM asks certified professionals to renew it on a regular schedule and to show that they are keeping their knowledge up to date. Check AIPMM's current renewal rules when you earn your certification so you can plan ahead.
