The Grossman School of Business is the business college of the University of Vermont, which was founded in 1791. Business instruction at UVM grew over the 20th century into a standalone school, and in 2013 it was renamed in honor of alumnus Stephen Grossman following a major gift. It holds AACSB accreditation and is known for a curriculum that integrates sustainability, social responsibility, and entrepreneurship into core business education.
Students experience a collaborative, outdoors-oriented culture in Burlington, a lively college town on Lake Champlain. Distinctive strengths include the Sustainable Innovation MBA, the Business Honors program, experiential learning through consulting projects and student-managed investment funds, and strong ties to Vermont's entrepreneurial and food and beverage economy. Class sizes are modest, faculty are accessible, and students benefit from the resources of a larger research university, including UVM's Division I athletics and extensive campus activities.
