Overview
The UTRGV School of Nursing was established following the 2013 merger of UT Pan American and UT Brownsville that created the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Built to address critical nursing shortages in the underserved Rio Grande Valley, the school has rapidly expanded its BSN, RN-to-BSN, MSN, and DNP programs while emphasizing culturally competent care for a largely Hispanic border population. It has become known for its simulation labs, community health partnerships, and its role in producing nurses who serve the region's hospitals and clinics.
