Overview
Founded in 1890, the UTMB School of Nursing is one of the nation's oldest continuously operating nursing schools and a founding component of the University of Texas Medical Branch, established in 1891 as Texas's first academic health center. The school has built a strong reputation for producing highly skilled nurses across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, with particular strength in nurse practitioner and advanced practice nursing preparation. Its close integration with UTMB's hospitals and clinics provides students with extensive clinical exposure from the earliest stages of their education.
