The Cizik School of Nursing was established in 1972 as the School of Nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and was later renamed in honor of Robert and Joyce Cizik following a major gift. It offers BSN, master's, DNP, and PhD programs and is recognized for its graduate nursing and DNP programs, producing nurse practitioners, nurse educators, nurse leaders, and nurse scientists for Texas and beyond.
Located in the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical complex, students gain access to extensive clinical partnerships, interprofessional education with UTHealth's medicine, dentistry, public health, and biomedical informatics schools, and diverse patient populations. The student experience is professionally focused, with many students pursuing flexible and online graduate programs while working. The school emphasizes health equity, evidence-based practice, and research in areas such as symptom science, pediatric health, and community health.
