Overview
Founded in 1958 as the Graduate School of Management at the University of Rochester, the school was renamed in 1986 in honor of William E. Simon, former U.S. Treasury Secretary and prominent financier, following a major gift from his family. Simon Business School is distinguished for its pioneering emphasis on applying rigorous economic and quantitative analysis to business problems, a philosophy rooted in its early faculty's contributions to agency theory and financial economics. It has built a strong reputation particularly in finance, business analytics, and accounting, producing influential scholarship that has shaped modern corporate finance theory.
