The Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship is the business college of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, which was created in 2015 through the merger of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American. The college traces its roots to business programs established in the Rio Grande Valley in the 1920s and 1950s, and it holds AACSB International accreditation for its business and accounting programs. It is named for philanthropist Robert C. Vackar and is best known for its strengths in international business, accounting, and border economics.
Based on the Edinburg campus with a presence at Brownsville, the college serves a largely Hispanic and first-generation student population with a strong commuter and working-student culture. Distinctive strengths include cross-border trade expertise, bilingual business preparation, an active entrepreneurship ecosystem, and student organizations connected to regional employers. Small class sizes, affordable tuition, and strong ties to South Texas industry give students practical, community-oriented learning experiences.
