St. John Fisher University was founded in 1948 by the Congregation of St. Basil as an all-male college and has since grown into a comprehensive, coeducational university serving roughly 3,500 students. Named for the English Renaissance bishop and martyr St. John Fisher, it is rooted in the Catholic tradition while welcoming students of all backgrounds. The institution is best known for its health sciences, including the Wegmans School of Pharmacy and Wegmans School of Nursing, as well as its business and education programs.
The 160-acre campus in suburban Pittsford, just outside Rochester, offers a close-knit community with small class sizes and approachable faculty. Students benefit from experiential learning, internships, and regional employer connections in healthcare, business, and education across western New York. Campus life includes NCAA Division III athletics as the Cardinals, service learning, and a wide range of clubs, with many students living on campus.
