Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine opened in 2008 in Parker, Colorado, as one of the first new osteopathic medical schools in the Rocky Mountain region in decades. It is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and grants the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. The college has built a reputation for producing physicians who enter primary care and serve rural and underserved populations, and it was among the first osteopathic schools to expand to multiple campuses under one university.
RVU-COM operates two campuses, one in Parker, Colorado, and one in Ivins, Utah, plus a Billings, Montana campus that began enrolling osteopathic students. The curriculum combines two years of preclinical coursework emphasizing active learning, simulation, and osteopathic manipulative medicine with two years of clinical rotations at partner hospitals and clinics across the region. Students describe a collaborative, small-cohort culture with strong faculty access, outdoor recreation nearby, and a strong sense of service orientation.
