The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) is the founding college of Midwestern University, established in 1900 as the American College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Chicago. It grants the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree and is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. CCOM is best known for its comprehensive curriculum integrating osteopathic manipulative medicine, early clinical exposure, and strong residency placement rates across the Midwest and nationally.
CCOM is located on Midwestern University's Downers Grove campus, a suburban setting about 25 miles west of downtown Chicago. Students train in modern simulation labs, anatomy facilities, and the on-campus Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinic, and complete clinical rotations at affiliated hospitals throughout Illinois and beyond. The student experience is collaborative and interprofessional, with medical students learning alongside peers in pharmacy, dentistry, physician assistant, physical therapy and other health programs.
