About Northwestern Polytechnic

Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) is a public polytechnic based in Grande Prairie, Alberta. It grew out of Grande Prairie Regional College and received its polytechnic designation and new name in the early 2020s, with a stronger focus on applied learning and industry partnerships.

The institution offers certificates, diplomas, applied degrees, university transfer options and apprenticeship training. Small class sizes and close ties with regional employers in energy, health, agriculture, trades and business help students move from the classroom into the workforce.

NWP serves students from across northwestern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia, and also welcomes students from elsewhere in Canada and abroad. Its mix of trades, technology, health and business programs makes it a practical choice for students who want skills that employers in the region are looking for.
